What is a Glo2 facial?

You know when your skin just feels a little… blah? Your makeup isn't sitting quite right, you're looking dull, and you're ready for something—but what? Let's talk about Glo2! It's a personalized facial that combines exfoliation, oxygenation, ultrasound-assisted serum infusion and massage, and it's where I start with most clients. I love a beautiful glow, but what really gets me excited is choosing the right treatment for your skin—and helping you understand why.

TL;DR
  • A Glo2 facial combines Oxfoliation, ultrasound and massage, with treatment choices personalized to your skin.
  • The Signature Glo at Britt D Aesthetics takes 30 minutes; added treatments change the appointment length.
  • Radiofrequency is optional, not included in every Glo2 facial on the studio menu.
  • A refreshed appearance is not the same as correcting every concern in one visit.

Let's talk about more than the glow

If you've been looking at facial menus around Mooresville or Lake Norman and thinking, “That sounds lovely, but what does it actually do?”—let's talk! I want you to understand what's happening on your skin, not just recognize the name on the menu.

Glo2 is where I typically start with most clients at Britt D Aesthetics. We can use it for maintenance or build in more corrective work, depending on what your skin needs. My Signature Glo gives us a place to begin, and we don't have to add every enhancement to make your visit worthwhile.

And please don't feel like you need to study the menu before you come in. Bring your questions! We'll talk through your skin, your routine and what you'd love to work on together.

What is a Glo2 facial, and how does it work?

Glo2Facial is the treatment name; Geneo is the system behind it. The distinctive step is called Oxfoliation, which brings exfoliation and oxygenation together rather than treating them as separate parts of your appointment.

That sounds like a lot of science for a facial, doesn't it? Let me walk you through it the way I would in the studio.

Oxfoliation: tailored to your skin concern

Exfoliation removes dull surface cells. During Oxfoliation, a customized OxyPod works with the treatment gel. Depending on the pod's strength and your individual response, the sensation can range from light, bubbly tingling to a much more active sensation.

The Bohr effect: why carbon dioxide matters

This is the science part I want you to know about! The oxygenation in Oxfoliation is based on a natural process called the Bohr effect. Put simply, increased carbon dioxide helps hemoglobin—the protein that carries oxygen in your red blood cells—release that oxygen to nearby tissue.

During Oxfoliation, the OxyPod reacts with the treatment gel to create carbon dioxide bubbles at the skin's surface. Geneo describes this carbon dioxide-rich environment as triggering the Bohr effect to support oxygen delivery to the skin from within.

So here's the distinction: we aren't spraying oxygen onto your face. Geneo uses that carbon dioxide reaction to support your body's own oxygen-release process while we exfoliate the surface. Pretty interesting for something you might have thought was just a bubbly facial!

And remember, more sensation isn't something you need to push through to earn a result. Keep talking to me about how your skin feels—that conversation is part of your treatment, too.

Ultrasound: let's put that serum to work

Next comes ultrasound. This step uses micro-vibrations to help your customized serum penetrate the skin, rather than just applying it on top. We're putting that carefully chosen serum to work to support hydration and a plumper-looking finish.

And the serum isn't an afterthought! I choose it with your skin in mind, because dry skin, sensitive skin and different routines don't all call for the exact same approach.

Hands-free massage: a little time to settle in

Yes, there's a relaxing part, too! The Signature Glo includes a hands-free massage designed to help reduce the look of puffiness and redness. You can enjoy that quieter finish while we give your skin some attention.

You might see this step called “detox,” and here's why: I use the massage tip in lymphatic drainage motions. This isn't just a relaxing pass over the skin—we're using a lymphatic drainage massage technique to help address the appearance of puffiness. That's what “detox” refers to here, rather than a promise to remove toxins from your body.

What makes a Glo2 facial personalized?

Your facial should feel like it was chosen for you—because it was. I don't want to give you a menu of impressive-sounding steps without connecting them to what actually bothers you about your skin.

Maybe your makeup isn't sitting smoothly. Maybe your skin looks dull, or you're noticing a change in firmness. Those are different conversations, and I want to hear yours.

Your treatment choices are shaped by:

  • Your main concern: what you most want to look or feel different.
  • Your skin's current condition: including dryness, irritation or a recent reaction.
  • Your home routine: especially exfoliants, retinoids and prescribed products.
  • Recent procedures: because the timing of other treatments affects planning.
  • Your longer-term goals: maintenance, a specific event or a broader corrective plan.

You don't have to figure all of that out on your own. Tell me what you're using—even that product you bought and aren't quite sure what to do with. We can start there!

Does every Glo2 facial include radiofrequency?

No. Radiofrequency is not included in every Glo2 appointment at my studio. Some descriptions online include it as part of the overall Geneo system, which can make different providers' menus confusing.

RF Firm + Lift is a separate treatment component that uses Geneo's RF Pro to deliver controlled heat, supporting firmer, tighter-looking skin over time. At Britt D Aesthetics, it is included in The Platinum Glo and is one of the choices in The Deluxe Glo; The Signature Glo does not automatically include it.

RF Firm + Lift is available for clients 18 and older. Age eligibility is only one part of deciding whether it belongs in your appointment, so we still need to discuss your individual suitability.

Which Glo Collection appointment should you choose?

Let's make the menu feel a little less overwhelming! The question isn't “Which appointment has the most steps?” It's “What does my skin need?” Here's how The Glo Collection fits together.

Treatment What it includes Best for Appointment length What to keep in mind
The Signature Glo Glo2 Oxfoliation, ultrasound and hands-free massage A focused maintenance facial 30 minutes Does not include dermaplaning or RF Firm + Lift
The Deluxe Glo The Signature Glo plus dermaplaning or RF Firm + Lift Adding one targeted treatment 60 minutes You choose one of the two additions, based on suitability
The Platinum Glo The Signature Glo plus dermaplaning and RF Firm + Lift Combining the Glo2 facial with surface smoothing and firming work 75 minutes Both additions need to suit your skin and goals

Dermaplaning removes surface buildup and peach fuzz. RF Firm + Lift focuses on firmer-looking skin. They do different jobs, so the right choice isn't simply whichever one sounds more advanced.

Still not sure? That's okay! I'd much rather help you choose than have you feel like you need to book the longest appointment. The right treatment is the one that makes sense for your skin.

What does a Glo2 facial feel like?

A Glo2 facial can feel different from person to person—and from one OxyPod to another. Depending on the strength of the pod I choose for your concern, Oxfoliation can feel light, bubbly and tingly, or much more active.

Let's be honest about this part: not every pod feels like a barely-there facial! Your sensitivity, the pod I choose and the treatments we include all shape the experience. Ultrasound has its own sensation, the massage gives you a quieter moment, and RF Firm + Lift adds warmth when included.

You never need to stay quiet about discomfort. Tell me if something feels stronger than you expected, if an area is particularly sensitive or if your skin has been reacting to products lately.

If you're nervous, tell me that, too. Whether you're wondering about redness afterward or just want to know what each handpiece does, I'm happy to walk you through it before we begin. Questions are always welcome.

What results should you expect—and what shouldn't you expect?

Brighter, smoother, more hydrated-looking skin? That's the immediate goal! But I don't want our conversation to stop at the glow. What we choose for your OxyPod, whether we add RF and how we build your visits together all connect back to your goals.

It is not a promise that one facial will erase deep lines, remove acne scars or resolve a persistent skin condition. Those concerns call for a different conversation about what treatment can realistically achieve and whether you need medical advice.

I recommend a Glo2 facial every 4 weeks for most clients. That gives us a consistent rhythm for working on your skin rather than treating each appointment as an isolated visit. Your response, home care and individual goals still guide the plan.

Your first appointment is our starting point, not a promise to do everything in one visit. We get to see how your skin responds, talk about what you're noticing and build from there. That's the part I want you to feel good about: you have someone helping you make a plan.

Is there downtime after a Glo2 facial?

There is no expected downtime after The Signature Glo, but temporary pinkness or sensitivity is possible. “No downtime” doesn't mean your skin cannot react or that aftercare is optional.

Keep the distinction between treatments in mind. A basic Glo2 facial and a separate combination treatment that includes microneedling do not have the same recovery expectations.

If you are booking before a wedding, photos or another important occasion, tell me when it is and whether you've had this treatment before. Don't assume that a first-ever facial belongs immediately before an event just because the menu says no expected downtime.

How should you prepare and care for your skin afterward?

Tell me about recent injectables, peels, lasers, surgery and any prescription skincare before your appointment. The Signature Glo page includes specific spacing instructions for these treatments; timing needs to be reviewed before we start.

My current instructions for The Signature Glo include stopping topical retinoids at least 3 days before the appointment and avoiding exfoliating acids, retinol, benzoyl peroxide and topical acne medications for at least 3 days afterward. If a product is prescribed, check with your prescriber before pausing or changing it.

Afterward, keep your routine gentle:

  • Keep your skin clean and moisturized.
  • Protect it from the sun and follow your SPF instructions.
  • Avoid tanning, aggressive exfoliation, scratching and picking for the instructed period.
  • Contact me if you notice a reaction rather than adding new products to troubleshoot it yourself.

Follow the care instructions for the appointment you actually receive. Adding another treatment can change what you need to do before and after your visit.

Is Glo2 the same as a Hydrafacial?

Before we compare the two, let me share a little background: I was the original Master Hydrafacialist of Charlotte, North Carolina. I have lots of hands-on experience with Hydrafacial, so this isn't me dismissing a treatment I don't know. And there's no shade at Hydrafacial here!

In my opinion, Glo2 is a much more corrective treatment. What gets me excited is how I can tailor the different treatment components to the concern we're working on. That's my perspective from working with these treatments—not a promise that every Glo2 appointment will outperform every Hydrafacial.

The strength and type of OxyPod let me tailor the treatment to your concern. Ultrasound helps the selected serum penetrate the skin, and RF Firm + Lift, when included and suitable, adds controlled heat for firmer, tighter-looking skin. Together, those choices give me different ways to build a corrective plan.

Hydrafacial has its own strengths in cleansing, suction-based extractions and hydration. The right choice still comes back to your skin, the actual treatment offered and what you want to work on.

Your first Glo2 facial in Mooresville

You don't need a perfect skincare routine to come see me. Truly! You don't need a shelf full of products or all the right answers, either. Glo2 is where I typically start with most clients, whether this is your first professional facial or you're ready to get more consistent.

Come with your questions. Come with the products you're confused about. Come because you'd simply like to feel better about your skin. We can start right where you are and build from there.

If you're not sure which service fits, The Skin Story is a 30-minute consultation to discuss your skin, goals and routine. That's where we can decide whether Glo2 belongs in your plan and whether an addition makes sense.

You'll find me inside My Salon Suite Lake Norman at 124 Trade Ct., Suite 309, right here in Mooresville. When you're ready, book an appointment or a Skin Story—I'd love to help you get started!

FAQ

Is a Glo2 facial a good first facial?

A Glo2 facial is the first treatment I typically recommend for most clients at Britt D Aesthetics. I review your skin, routine and goals so we can choose the right starting point for you.

How long does a Glo2 facial take?

The Signature Glo takes 30 minutes at my studio. The Deluxe Glo takes 60 minutes, and The Platinum Glo takes 75 minutes because they include additional treatments.

Does a Glo2 facial include dermaplaning?

The Signature Glo does not include dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is one choice with The Deluxe Glo and is included with The Platinum Glo when suitable.

Can I get a Glo2 facial if my skin is sensitive?

Sensitive skin needs an individual suitability review, not a blanket promise. Tell me about irritation, diagnosed conditions, recent reactions and the products you use before we choose your treatment.

Can I wear makeup after a Glo2 facial?

I recommend skipping makeup for 24 hours after a Glo2 facial; tinted SPF is fine, as noted in my existing Glo2 guide. Follow the instructions provided for your specific appointment.

How often should I book a Glo2 facial?

I recommend a Glo2 facial every 4 weeks for most clients. Your skin's response and goals guide any adjustments to that schedule.

Can I have a Glo2 facial while pregnant?

At my studio, pregnant clients must have medical clearance from their pregnancy care provider before receiving a Glo2 facial. Clearance does not automatically make every pod or treatment component suitable; we still review the appointment individually.

One last thing

You bring your skin and your questions. I'll help with the plan.

That's what I want a visit to Britt D Aesthetics to feel like: a warm welcome, room to ask anything and clear explanations from someone who's excited to work with you. We can be serious about your skin and still enjoy the process!
